After a hugely successful 2016, CatFace is back in Edinburgh this year and we’ve got some smashing shows for the festival goers!

For 2017, we welcome the return of cult hit The Dark Room at Underbelly on Cowgate, for the 6th consecutive year. It’s a live action video game hosted by comedian John Robertson, regularly sells out, has toured the world and has a huge fanbase at the Fringe. New for this year, we are also hosting The Dark Room for Kids. John will be turning the raucous and often terrifying game into a version for Kids. There will be just as many insults, but with less swearing, and more rubbish prizes.

After being nominated for the prestigious Amused Moose Comedy Award last year, John will also be returning with a solo stand up show called ‘Dominant’ over at the Stand. This is a semi-improvised hour of comedy which is unpredictable, dark, risky, bold, audacious and always adventurous.

Also returning this year after a phenomenal 2016 is Anna Morris. After winning Best Comedy Show 2016 (Funny Women), Anna is bringing her show ‘Bitchelors’ to the Voodoo Rooms. The show is a fictitious ‘Women of the Year Awards’ and character comedian Anna plays four different contestants and the host. As with most of Anna’s shows, there is an improvised element. Last year, audiences planned a wedding. This year, they vote for their winner, resulting in one of four different endings.

Kevin Quantum is also back this year after the triumph of his last show ‘Illuminations’ which sold out the Debating Hall at the Gilded Balloon and then went on for a 4 week run at the Adelaide Fringe, regularly selling over 4000 tickets, and winning a Weekly award for Best Magic! New for 2017, he is performing ‘Anti Gravity’ at the Debating Hall – a family friendly magic show which blurs the lines between science and magic. He’s also activating his silly side with brand new project ‘And For My Next Trick’ at Underbelly’s Cowgate venue, which is a comedy-magic-sketch show; featuring jokes to make you belly laugh, and tricks to blow your mind.

And last but not least, we are so proud and happy to welcome Aaron Twitchen to the CatFace fold this year. An excellent stand up comedian, Aaron stands out from the crowd by performing his material whilst dangling elegantly from aerial silks. With ‘Curtain Twitchen;’ a circus-comedy-stand up fusion show, Aaron is bringing something never seen before to the Fringe. It’s a fun, feel-good hour featuring jaw dropping stunts.
